As one of the founding members of Health Care Without Harm, 2009 NRDC Growing Green Awards finalist Jamie Harvie has long been engaged in working to "transform the healthcare sector worldwide... so that it is ecologically sustainable and no longer a source of harm to public health and the environment."  Over 4 years ago, before "locavore" and "food miles" were household terms, Jamie recognized that the moral authority of the healthcare sector, along with its significant purchasing power, could provide a vital influence necessary to reconfigure our food system towards one with a preventive health focus.
