The FDA is not a consumer advocate. It is staffed and paid for by food industry corporate officers and corporate money. They are more concerned with tourism and food product sales than consumer safety, as demonstrated by their lack of safety standards on seafood, and their lack of outrage over the use of hazardous dispersant chemicals during the spill, the lack of significant changes for drilling permits in the Gulf, and the lack of adequate spill responses. Nothing in terms of safety changes has resulted after the lessons of this major spill, and no significant improvements in drilling regulation, or preparedness for spill response has changed.
