Here here! Encouraging to see community composting catching on! And if your community doesn't have food scrap pickup, you can still use fruit/veg scraps to nourish your yard vs. wasting them. Either compost them yourself, or if you're not ready to commit to a compost pile, just bury them in the garden. Dig a shallow trench, cover food scraps w. straw or newspaper, cover with dirt, and soon it'll be teeming with friendly microbes and nutrients to nourish plants. If you shred the food scraps first, the process will go 4-10X faster. (we invented a food scrap shredder, www.thegreencycler.com, for just this purpose)
