LISTEN: "A Force for Nature" on WNYC
John H. Adams, founder of both the Natural Resources Defense Council and this magazine (back then we were called The Amicus Journal), appeared on WNYC's Leonard Lopate Show with his wife, Patricia, earlier today to talk about NRDC's history and its mission to protect the environment.
Their memoir A Force for Nature: The Story of NRDC and the Fight to Save Our Planet, written with OnEarth articles editor George Black, tells the story of NRDC's founding in 1970 and its evolution from a small grassroots advocacy organization into an international powerhouse. The book was excerpted in a special section of our Fall 2010 issue.
