Easier targets: With the world unable to agree on carbon emission reductions, several nations -- including the U.S. -- are seeking to reduce other forms of global warming pollution instead, including soot (a.k.a. black carbon) from diesel exhaust and cookstoves. New York Times
Shameless: You might think the science-denying Heartland Institute would be embarrassed by leaked documents that show the right-wing think tank is seeking to undermine science education and legitimate climate research. Instead, it’s raising money to go after the media for reporting the leaks. Politico
Deniers deny: Heartland claims that at least some of the more than 100 pages of leaked documents are fake. The Associated Press authenticated much of the information found in them, but some pretty convincing analysis makes the case that at least one of the docs was probably made up (although much of what’s in it can be verified independently or found elsewhere in the doc dump). Boston Globe, The Atlantic
Small fry: A chameleon small enough to fit on a matchtip gets its close up -- real close up. National Geographic
GOP = Green Old Party?: Congressional Republicans may have no use for clean energy (except to cudgel the president with the Solyndra scandal), but their counterparts in governor’s mansions across the country are pushing ahead with policies that promote the green economy. InsideClimate News
Meltdown: A new study on how quickly Earth’s glaciers and ice caps are melting found some good news in the mountains of central Asia: they didn’t lose as much ice mass as feared (and might even have added some) from 2003-2010. Too bad the rest of the world’s glaciers are suffering significant losses. Washington Post
Built-in baking: Want more evidence that we need to ditch fuel sources that spew global warming pollution as soon as possible? A new study says that even if the world switched from coal-fired power to low-carbon energy today, there would still be a hiatus of about fifty years before global temperature stabilized. The Carbon Brief
Pedal power: Is cycling finally going mainstream in big cities like London? Sustainable Cities Collective
Eagle eyes: A bald eagle in Iowa is getting read to lay her eggs. You can watch via webcam. But where’s her Twitter feed? Wired

Years ago we were fooled about global cooling, now it is global warming and most people just don't know what to do anymore because it is so confusing.
