Green Jobs
Wondering who actually gets green jobs in the real world, and what makes their day-to-day lives different from yours? Staring on June 15, OnEarth reporter Liz Galst will head out to Newark, New Jersey, to follow green-job trainees who are making their way from the classroom to the workplace. Newark is home to some of the region's most comprehensive green-job education and placement programs. Galst will trail students as they learn new skills and take on internships in green construction that will prepare them to compete for jobs in government-funded urban housing projects.
We're looking to track trainees in other American cities, so if you know of a good program, send a note to our editors and we'll consider it for the next installation in our green jobs series.
