Gary Krupnick of the Smithsonian's botany department is the curator of Losing Paradise? Endangered Plants Here and Around the World, an exhibition currently open at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. (Read the OnEarth review.) It features illustrations of numerous plants at risk of extinction and aims to encourage participation in conservation efforts. Here he discusses several of the at-risk plants spotlighted in the exhibition.
