Making Movies, Citizen Journalism Style
For most of my blogs I’ve been writing about environmental media and the role of citizen journalism. The bias that has evolved from this is a focus on blogging as the principal form of citizen journalism. Of course, as I have mentioned—but perhaps not emphasized enough—plenty of other means of citizen reporting exist. This week I found a youtube video describing citizen journalism and a channel devoted to discussions on the subject, as well as videos made my citizen reporters. I encourage you to explore the reporting aspects of youtube more, but hope that this provides a good starting point. Below are the video and a link to the channel.
I am currently a junior at Columbia University studying environmental biology. After years of studying hard science, my interests have turned slightly towards science journalism, and I am currently working on a project for OnEarth to assess their methods of citizen journalism. After years of studying hard science, my interests have turned slightly towards science journalism, and I am currently working on a project for OnEarth to assess their methods of citizen journalism. I will be posting a series of blogs about environmental media and citizen journalism. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to comment on my posts or contact me directly.
