You're OnEarth Photo Contest

OnEarth magazine wants you to share your best photographs of life on Earth -- that could mean wildlife habitat, sure, but it also means human habitat or wherever the two should meet (harmoniously or inharmoniously). We'll showcase your submissions here on our website, and every quarter, our editors will choose one photo for publication in the print issue. We’re looking for a strong visual point of view, attitude, commentary, and, of course, beauty (broadly defined).

The lucky photographer will win a FREE trip for two to any Caravan Tours destination -- Costa Rica, Guatemala, the Canadian Rockies, the Grand Canyon, Nova Scotia, New England -- valued up to $3,500. Second place winners receive a pair of Vanguard Endeavor ED binoculars, valued at $425.

To submit your photos, head over to Flickr and upload them. Not a Flickr user? Signing up is easy, so click here to get started! (Please see contest rules and tagging details below.)

€ An individual may submit only one (1) photo per each contest round.
€ If you choose to include people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted, and must be able to provide copies of those releases to NRDC and OnEarth magazine upon request. Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife, damage to the environment by the photographer, or infringe on the rights of any other photographer or person.

OnEarth magazine will publish the winning selections in its next issue and online. We will notify winners via email.

€ By submitting the entry, the contestant is warranting that the contestant owns all rights in the entry and that it is original, and has neither been previously published nor has won any other award. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NRDC, OnEarth magazine, and their representatives and agents for any third-party claim of infringement.
€ NRDC and OnEarth magazine reserve the right at its sole discretion to reject and disqualify any photograph for any reason.
€ You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit -- including ownership if applicable -- other than those rights licensed in the next sentence. By entering the contest, you grant to NRDC and OnEarth magazine (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display, and publicly perform the photographs you submit for an unlimited time in any media, and (ii) the right to use your name, city, state, and country of residence in promotions and other publications.
€ NRDC and OnEarth magazine assume no responsibility for entries unable to be processed for any technical reason and further reserve the right to cancel the contest if it becomes technically corrupted or because of unauthorized human intervention.

We'll contact you via your Flickr account if we select your photo for the magazine. Selections will also be spotlighted periodically on the OnEarth Community page.

Good luck!
