Sundance Diary
OnEarth contributing editor Bruce Barcott, who wrote about Mark Kitchell's highly anticipated documentary A Fierce Green Fire in our winter issue, reports on the snow, celebrities, and serious environmental messages on display at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, where Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth made its first big splash before going on to win an Academy Award. This year's contenders for most-buzzed-about green doc at the Utah festival include Chasing Ice, The Atomic States of America, and The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom (which is already in the Oscar running). A Sundance winner from last year, If A Tree Falls, is also Oscar-nominated.
