Editorial Purpose

OnEarth (pronounced "on earth," not "one earth") is a quarterly magazine and online publication of thought and opinion about the environment. It is open to diverse points of view; the opinions expressed by the editors are their own and not necessarily those of our publisher, the nonprofit Natural Resources Defense Council. NRDC does not endorse the products and or services that are advertised in OnEarth.

Founded in 1979 as The Amicus Journal, today our publication -- in both print and online -- explores the challenges that confront our world, the solutions that promise to heal it, and the way we can use those solutions to improve our homes, our health, our communities, and our future.
